DOGS

'We [need to] connect with a trainer who understands how animals learn; emphasises modern, positive-reinforcement–based training methods; and is involved in continuing education'.

Camille Ward, ethologist

I got a puppy in 2004 and have been learning about dogs (and the dog/human bond) ever since, especially through my friendship with Timmy, a corgi/Jack Russell terrier.

I believe in humane, force-free training for pet dogs and their owners. Rewards-based training, based on sound scientific principles of behaviour change, is key to good animal care.

How we treat our pets reflects who we are and the values we uphold. When we treat them unkindly, we fail as human beings.

My studies in dog training include courses with Karen Pryor Academy, Fenzi Dog Sports Academy and the Institute for Modern Dog Trainers.

'Training is key to good animal care. Everyone with a pet should understand that. Training is a way to enhance our pets' quality of life. It's far more than just teaching them to do cute tricks. It's about teaching an animal how to live in our world safely'.
